Story of Sinking: |
The British ship Lady Fitzherbert, commanded by captain Chr. Eger, had departed from the harbour of Kronstadt on 24 October 1856 (N.S.) at 6 a.m. in the morning. Destination was Bristol. The ship was moving slowly due to relatively unfavourable winds and bad weather. On 27 October, the weather became stormy. On 28 October at 2 a.m. the ship ran on a rock. The stormy weather beat the ship several times against the shoal reef. The crew left the ship and made it to an island. They had no food or water and they managed to reach Kunda by a boat they had found on the island. |
