Story of Sinking: | The English brig (captain Charles Smith) was on her way from Clackmannan to Kronstadt, but ran off the course in the Gulf of Finland due to rainy and stormy weather and bad visibility. The ship stranded near Vaindloo Island early morning on 8 October 1859 (N.S.). The ship filled with water by 9 a.m. The rigging was salvaged. | ||
