Story of Sinking: On her way from St Petersburg to London, a Dutch ship the Vlinder (registration number 176Vd) (captain Jan de Jonge from Veendam) wrecked during a storm ca 3 miles south of Mohni Island on 29 September 1867. The crew left the leaking ship and reached the coast at Pärispea village; the ship foundered.
