Story of Sinking: |
On 21 September at 9 p.m., the Latvian ship (captain Jahn Baggat) was on her way from Riga to Saint Petersburg when she hit a Russian sailing ship Anna Ottilie near Keri island and foundered quickly, because the ship had obtained severe damages to the port side. The captain and three crew members made it on board of Ottilie, but the mate (captain's son) and chef drowned. Rescue steamer Hermes towed Anna Ottilie with the crew of the Latvian ship to the port of Tallinn by the evening of 22 September. |
